#GivingTuesday: Everyone has something to Give and Every Act of Generosity Counts.

Brian Tracy said, “Always give without remembering and always receive without forgetting [1] ”. His words makes us reflect on kindness and how giving is always better than receiving. For this reason, it is important to remember that on November 29, we will be able to join #GivingTuesday [2] , a global initiative that seeks to help those who need it most.

“Giving Tuesday is a global generosity movement unleashing the power of radical generosity. It was created in 2012 as a simple idea: a day that encourages people to do good. Since then, it has grown into a year-round global movement that inspires hundreds of millions of people to give, collaborate, and celebrate generosity [3] ”.

According to the National Philanthropic Trust [4] : Americans gave $484.85 billion in 2021, this reflects a 4% increase from 2020; corporate giving in 2021 increased to $21.08 billion, a 23.8% increase from 2020; foundation giving in 2021 increased to $90.88 billion, a 3.4% increase from 2020; giving by bequest in 2021 was $46.01 billion, a 7.3% decline from 2020. In 2021, the largest source of charitable giving came from individuals, who gave $326.87 billion, representing 67% of total giving; the same year, the majority of charitable dollars went to religion (27%), education (14%), human services (13%), grantmaking foundations (13%) public-society benefit (11%).

It is important to mention why giving has benefits. According to Charities Aid Foundation [5] : Giving to charity makes you feel good, giving to charity strengthens personal values, giving is more impactful than ever, giving to charity introduces your children to the importance of generosity and, giving to charity encourages friends and family to do the same. UMFS [6]  affirms that donating helps people in need, impacts our community, inspires additional donations, cultivates generous kids, feels wealthier, is a great addition to volunteering, makes us more grateful, improves our health, etc.

On this occasion, we want that you know our public charity, Neighbors’ Consejo [7] , because for more than 27 years, we have been dedicated to helping the neediest residents of Washington D.C. with mental health issues and community support. Under the principles of collaboration, social responsibility and human development and wellbeing, we want to join hands with others, for our neighbors.

So, please consider donating to our cause following https://neighborsconsejo.networkforgood.com/projects/83967-help-our-neighbors “join your hand to my hand, so our neighbors can be in good hands”.
