WHO: 4 million Ukrainian Refugees Expected to have Mental Health Problems.

“30.000 Ukrainian refugees suffer from serious mental health problems due to the crisis with Russia”, said Paloma Cuchi, representative of the World Health Organization (WHO) in Poland.

What is worrying about the situation is that the WHO predicts that the number of Ukrainians with these problems is rapidly approaching 4 million. In addition to these effects on emotional well-being such as stress, anxiety and depression, they are suffering from hypothermia, cardiac arrest, among other health issues.

“What we are seeing at the reception centers is fever, diarrhea, hypothermia, upper respiratory tract infections, cardiac arrest, mental and emotional distress.”
