President Joe Biden “puts magnifying glass” on mental health.
In his recent State of the Union address, President Joe Biden highlighted the condition of mental health in the country. As solutions, he presented a series of proposals based on the mental health policies of previous presidents such as Carter, Bush, Kennedy and Obama, in order to demonstrate the prevalence of these problems over the years.
The president cited the study by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) which mentions, for example, the wake of Covid-19 among youths and adults, which increased from 18.9% in 2016 to 21% in 2020 – a situation, among many others, which made the president commit to review the treatments that are being offered to provide solutions to this problem.
“…to provide early diagnosis and continuous and comprehensive care in the community of those suffering from these disorders; and to reinforce the will and capacity of our communities to meet these problems”
