Let’s Move our Body and Brain

Exercising is undoubtedly an activity in life that allows us to obtain countless benefits. However, many are unaware that “moving” also improves our mental health.

Walking, running, swimming, cycling or practicing any sport will physically help to oxygenate our brain, it will help us to reduce our daily stress and will therefore allow us to have a better quality of life, which of course must be accompanied by factors such as good nutrition and sufficient hours of sleep [ 1] .

The figures confirm it. According to the study “Exercise Linked to Improved Mental Health, but More May not Always be Better [2] ”, which included 1.2 million people in the US, and was published in Science Daily “people who exercise report having 1.5 fewer days of poor mental health a month, compared to people who do not exercise”. Dr. Adam Chekroud, Assistant Professor of Psychiatry at Yale University, and Chief Scientist at Spring Health stated, “Exercise is associated with a lower mental health burden across people no matter their age, race, gender, household income and education level.”

Among the related benefits of exercising to improve overall mental health, six can be listed [3] : stress reduction, clearer thoughts and memories, better sleep at night, allows for connections with other people, helps you learn more about yourself and reduces your likelihood of physical health issues.
