Building Blocks DC, a Strategy to Prevent Violence in Washington D.C.
Building Blocks D.C. (BBDC) is a strategy created by the Washington Mayor’s Office that aims to reduce and prevent the risk of people getting involved in armed violence so that, on the contrary, they join opportunities for success within the community.
Recently, Mayor Muriel Bowser announced the delivery of 20 $5,000 grants to support community activities that promote this initiative. Progressive Life Center, a non-profit community based organization is managing the BBDC micro-grants program.
“For many years, District residents in communities hit hardest by gun violence have been helping their neighbors, often using their own money.”
Linda Harllee Harper, District’s Director of Gun Violence Prevention.
