CDC set off Alarms about COVID-19 and Mental Health

The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) recently added mental health to the list of pre-existing conditions that put people at high-risk of getting severely ill from COVID-19. “Having mood disorders, including depression, and schizophrenia spectrum disorders can make you more likely to get severely ill from COVID-19” – CDC.

Additionally, the COVID-19 pandemic has significantly increased the number of new people suffering from mental health conditions.

“They’re just waiting to hear it from us. Anything we can say to say, ‘This matters and you’re at increased risk,”

Dana Mueller, director of adult and family medicine at Mary’s Center.
