Mental Health Struggles Behind Cornell Student’s Threats, Sayd Mother.

Patrick Dai, a 21-year-old Cornell University student, has been charged with a federal offense for making online threats against Jewish people on campus. He is accused of posting these threats on an online Greek Life forum. Following threats, which included mentions of shooting and stabbing Jewish individuals, campus security was heightened. Dai admitted to law enforcement that he was responsible for these messages.

Dai’s mother, Bong Liu, in an interview with The Associated Press, suggested that Dai’s actions were influenced by his mental health struggles and the medication he was taking for depression and anxiety.

“The post says no amount of depression, loneliness or isolation is an excuse for terroristic threats.”
