Washington Opens the First Shelter for LGBTQ+ Community
This is a news full of colors. From now on, refugees and homeless of the LGBTQ+ community in Washington D.C. will have the first shelter for them in this city.
The funds for the construction of this place that has 40 beds, support for mental wellness, addictions and health, among other benefits, were obtained thanks to the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA). According to the Mayor’s Office, “they need to live healthy, happy lives, and getting Washingtonians back on a path to permanent housing.»
The shelter is located at 400 50th Street, Southeast.
