Ukraine and WHO Sign Memorandum to Improve Mental Health

Through The Mental Health Gap Action Program (mhGAP), implemented in more than 100 countries around the world, mental health services in Ukraine aim to be stronger and more accessible to all.

To date, 655 mental health professionals have completed the training of other professionals in general health issues, such as nurses. Therefore, signing this agreement promoted by the first lady Olena Zelenska, seeks to increase psychosocial support coverage, in order to provide better emotional wellbeing to the citizens of Ukraine.

“Coming together today marks a historical moment, because there is a commitment to strengthen the provision of mental health services in Ukraine through primary health care,”

Dr Jarno Habicht, WHO Representative in Ukraine
