Mental Health Workers Protest against Kaiser Permanente

Hundreds of workers including psychologist, therapist, social workers and counselors in California, have demonstrated against Kaiser Permanente, seeking to provide, according to the protesters, better services on mental health issues.

Currently, the United States is desperately dealing with the increase in anxiety and depression among its citizens, a product of the pandemic. However, some workers say patients have to wait months for an appointment to receive therapy sessions with Kaiser, which serves 9 million people in the state and has one mental health doctor for every 2,600 patients. 

“We don’t take striking lightly but it’s time to take a stand and make Kaiser spend some of its billions on mental health care.”
