Mental Health Crisis Among US Federal Workers

Federal workers are facing an escalating mental health crisis due to widespread job cuts under President Trump’s administration. Many report severe anxiety, depression, and even suicidal thoughts as they fear for their livelihoods. The Department of Government Efficiency is leading efforts to eliminate 200,000 jobs, forcing employees into uncertainty.

Mental health professionals report a surge in government workers seeking therapy, citing financial and emotional strain. Critics argue the layoffs are destabilizing the public sector, while supporters claim they will reduce government spending. A federal judge has temporarily reinstated some workers, but the administration remains commitment to downsizing.

“It is happening so fast; the threats just keep coming, and the overall fear spread by the administration is causing existential breakdown.”
