Neighbors’ Consejo, acknowledgments all people and organizations that support our mission, to help our Neighbors in the Washington DC area.
Since 1973, the Greater Washington Community Foundation has been a champion of thriving communities and a catalyst for change through local philanthropic engagement, effective community investment, and civic leadership. We work with donors and partners to enhance the quality of life in the District of Columbia, Montgomery County, Northern Virginia, and Prince George’s County by aligning resources and leveraging shared interests to amplify impact.
Neighbors’ Consejo sold two properties in 2016, where we operated for many years. These houses served as offices and also to house the homeless. Selling them was a financial decision based on the circumstances of the foundation at the time. Fortunately, the developer has designated the project as affordable housing, for100% of the units. The project is restricted to single mothers. The original purpose of Neighbors’ for those properties remains: Serving as housing for the needy.
Thank you to all anonymous donors for your generosity. We are thrilled to have your support. Through your donation we have been able to help our Neighbors Latino, African-American and other neighbors who are among the most vulnerable residents in the Washington, D.C. area.
